Who We Are

Stu Blattner, Inc. is the largest Raise Bore Contractor in the United States and one of the largest in the world. The Company was incorporated in 1980 and still operates with its original owners, Stu and Bruce Blattner.

Currently there are 19 raise bore machines in our fleet, operating in South America, North America and Australia. With over 200 years of raise bore experience and over 150,000 feet raised, Stu Blattner Inc. has perfected their drilling program saving time and money with their clients over the conventional methods. We cater to our customers offering such services as “low profile” machines.  We also have worked with special requests such as developing the “Y” system, where we pull one raise out of another.

Predominately our equipment is used in mining ventilation shafts, ore passages or manways, along with hydroelectric projects for the use of drilling large diameter holes.  We have a capacity of drilling from 9 inch to 18 feet in diameter and 800 meters in length. In certain situations, we have been able to drill 500 meters depending on the rock conditions.

In addition to raise bore contracting, we also manufacture raise bore machines, reaming heads, drill pipe and cutters. This puts us in a unique situation of supplying ourselves with the equipment needed for a job. Therefore, we can offer the customer the lowest price, coupled with the best customer service in the industry.
