Because of the increased load capacities provided with the SBM 900, the hydraulic thrust cylinders are used as guide columns. These columns are in direct line with the drive spindle. Pilot or reaming thrust is reacted directly through the pivot point of the machine to assure stability at any drill angle and any thrust load.

This means reduced bending moment, greater stability and less deviation of the pilot hole collaring point when you are drilling and reaming inclined raises. This alignment also reduces wear and stress on structural members, drive spindle and drill pipe components.

The SBM 900 develops reaming torque of 189,000 ft. lbs. / 256, 284 knm. and reaming thrust to 940,000 lbs. / 4,174 kn. This machine comes standard with hydraulic drive, variable (0-9 RPM) rotary speed, so thrust and torque requirements can be obtained for cutting rock formations during pilot drilling as well as back reaming
